Physiotherapy FAQs

Are your team registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC)?

Yes, all of our physiotherapists are Chartered and registered with the HPC, ensuring we provide treatment to the highest standards.

Do you have a good relationship with other medical professionals?

We have a good working relationship with local GPs and many of the Orthopaedic Consultants and Podiatrists in the area, enabling us the provide a multi-disciplinary approach where necessary.

How many treatments will I need?

We do not have a set number of treatments for any condition - every patient is an individual. However, following your first appointment the physiotherapist will discuss the anticipated number of treatments. You will be reassessed on each visit and if progress plateaus out or if no improvement seems apparent then your treatment will be altered accordingly or you will be referred on to a specialist.

How quickly can I be seen?

We aim to offer you an appointment within 24-48 hours. It may often be possible for you to be seen the very same day.

What do I need to provide?

All we ask is that there is a space available for us to put up a mobile therapy bed which is sometimes needed for treatments. If you have any scans, reports or letters these could be very helpful in telling us about your problem and past treatments.

Can you treat my employees?

Yes, we can arrange for a physiotherapist to run a clinic at your business to treat your staff. Musculoskeletal problems (particularly back pain) are the biggest cause of sickness absence and loss of revenue to businesses in the UK . We can help get staff back to work quicker and help to prevent further absence.

What records do we keep?

We take your confidentiality very seriously. All sessions are documented and these are kept secure with your personal details so that only physiotherapists working for RD- Physio have access. Under the Data Protection Act, you are entitled to request to see any records we keep about your care.

How long will my appointment be?

Initial appointments can last up to one hour, this appointment will include both assessment and initial treatment. Follow up appointments are thirty to sixty minutes long.

What should I wear?

You will need to wear or bring suitable clothing to change into, for example if you have a problem with your lower back or leg, a pair of shorts would be appropriate. In the case of a shoulder, neck or upper back problem, it may be necessary to remove your shirt or top to expose the relevant area.
